Lumaya Candles are individually hand poured candles by Steph Dylan Cawitan, a London born Filipina creative. Our candles are nature and culture inspired, using natural soy wax and phthalate-free fragrance oils. Sustainability and responsibility is at the core of our ethos.

“This is my love letter to the Philippines - a tribute to my culture, a space in which I can explore my connection with my roots, as well as play with my creativity and joy, and express my love for self care and mindful practises/ways of life.

Smell is the strongest link to memory, and I hope that my candles can help people awaken memories of their homeland, or transport people to a new & different place or time.

Much as the lighting of a candle can be mindful and ritualistic, the process of preparing and pouring the wax is also therapeutic and meditative, requiring focus on the moment - each candle is created and tended to with great care and affection. I have found my outlet for the love and longing I have for my ancestral home, in the making of these candles.

I hope you feel transported and uplifted when you light them.”

who are we?

lumayà
(Tagalog, verb)
= to be free

wax

Our wax is all-natural, plant-based, vegan-friendly wax made from responsibly sourced soy which meets rigorous ethical and environmental standards, made from natural & renewable resources. Our wax contains no additional additives, and is biodegradable, clean burning and non toxic.

oils

All fragrance oils used to make Lumaya scented candles are phthalate free & paraben free. Phthalates are used commonly in scented candles, and are endocrine disrupting chemicals - we never use them.

We use lab produced oils rather than essential oils, as EO production uses up huge amounts of natural resource.

safety

All our candles meet safety requirements and have accurate CLP information and labelling.

They are individually hand poured into heat-safe vessels from reputable candle suppliers, as all our supplies are.

eco commitment

All elements of our candles are produced with sustainability in mind.

Our outer packaging (postage boxes, packing paper, shredded paper) uses reusable, recyclable and biodegradable products.
